Strange Weather Sketching

Enjoying Sketching while the Weather is Strange!

Well, they say that it never rains in Southern California. Well, I'm here to tell you, that that is not true. It does rain in Southern California! However, out here in Redlands, it seems to only rain enough to dirty your car.

I mean, a few days ago, we have the weirdest thunder and lightning storm. Every half an hour the skies would grumble, and then the tiniest lightning strike.

So I don't like painting on overcast days. Everything is grey. And I can't push the distance, and you know how I love to push distance in a painting. So, on rainy days like it has been, I just pull out the old sketchbook and get a couple of sketches in.

I don't use anything special. Just regular sketching paper, a 2B pencil and a kneaded eraser. That's it.

Well, this weather is trying. This is a cold June. But don't worry, July is right around the corner, and you know what that means. . . 100+ temperatures and painting at the beach.

Live, love and paint,

Terry

Hi Terry...I'm a doodler too and since its been SO HUMID here in SC Ive been playing with some watercolor pencils. I always make it too...heavy, but with practice I think I can improve! Very nice sketch up there!
