Does My Artwork Suck?

No, Really, tell me the truth. . .
Last week, I was in an office, and I saw artwork handing on the wall. I began to ask the lady about the artwork. She informed me that some of the paintings she had painted, and some were done by relatives in her family. I exclaimed, "WOW, What a talented family you have!"

Now, alot of people don't believe me when I say things like that. This is common. Too many artists feel that they must grade their artwork. By judging our artwork, it inhibits us from producing future paintings. Our culture tells us that if we produce anything less than perfect, it is not good enough. In school, NEVER shout out the wrong answer, lest you be ridiculed! What we need to be is encouraged to TRY!

SO. . .What is GOOD Artwork?
I think Pablo Picasso said it best:
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Art is neither good nor bad. The fact that we create art - that's the genius of itself! How can you tell is a civilization is healthy or not? Check out the artwork. Freedom in life means freedom to create art. And that is a beautiful thing!

Enjoy this wonderful video on Picasso that I found on Youtube,
Live, love and paint,

I think my digital art is better than my handpainted art...I always have enjoyed drawing but never enjoyed painting...but now Im forcing myself to paint...Ive been doing some watercolor and working on various techniques to find my nitch in that medium...Next I will try acrylics which I used to use many years back...then its going to be oil pastels!! OF Course right now Im enjoying photography so much....its taking a front seat.

Thanks Dixie - that's what so great about being an artist. You get to try so many things. Anyhow, I like acrylics, except for usually I'm in temperatures of 80 to 120 degrees. Acrylics dry too fast in the desert. Keep up the great work. Terry

I agree, Terry. Trying is more important than the end result. Reminds me of a small circus I went to see. The performers tried many things that didn't always work, but they didn't care, and neither did I. It was great to see the effort.
