.
Just thought that I would post this real quick. Did a couple of short imaginary paintings today. I do these paintings when I'm switching colors. Trying to make sure that I have colors that work for where I live.
I follow alot of instructors from around the county. Some artists are really good at composition, some at techniques, and some at color theory. However, when they choose colors, they tend to chose colors that work best for where they live.
One artist creates excellent watercolors of England. Well, he has a bunch of dreary colors on his palette. I live in sunny, warm, Southern California, and need colors that reflect this.
So, I've been testing, testing testing all sorts of colors, and finally have come up with a palette that I like.
Live, love and paint,
Terry

Hi Terry,
I've often tried to follow instructors, and always ended up botching everything. It's possibly as you say, wrong colour for wrong area. And South African colours are bright and warm in summer, and dreary and yellow in winter, except at the coast, where it's ALWAYS blue and green!
Regards
