Sunset in Yucaipa

The Best Day Painting!

You know it is the best day ever when your painting comes out spectacular. The lighting was right, I hadn't painted in days, and I was ready!

Of course, you have your normal problems. Lots of little gnats buzzing around. They don't bite, but they are really annoying.

My only problem with the painting is that my scanner didn't do it justice. The clouds came out fantastic. However, since they are the lightest value, they didn't scan in well.

I'm not sure about the lack of color harmony in the painting. Normally, I paint a lavender sky at sunset. However, I started early, and the clouds were blue. Well, I guess I was piddling too much, and by the time I got to the mountain, the sunset was here.

I love the reaction that I got from passersby. There eyes almost popped out of there heads. That was great.

Since the sun sets by 7, I pack up my paints, and then go for a hike, on those very paths. Is that not the perfect way to end the evening!

Live, love and paint,

Terry
